Head chef of Cafe Football, the new venture by footballers Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville, hosted a class for Newham College students this week. Brendan Fyldes guided catering and hospitality students Trenia Malipot, 19 and Christian Ilie, 35 in cooking the restaurant’s signature dishes.
Brendan said: “Working with these talented students has been fantastic, as we are always aiming to give something back to community. Hopefully, the things they’ve learnt today will help and inspire them in their future careers.”
The football-themed wholesome food, from the Westfield Stratford City eaterie, incorporated unusual elements which pleasantly surprised the students.
Trenia said: “The food we cooked seemed quite simple at first, but when we tasted it there were some really surprising twists, it was just delicious. I’m so happy I’ve had the opportunity to learn from Brendan. He told us that sometimes in your career you have to go against what some people say and create your own path, which really resonated with me.”
