THE 2018 WORLD CUP KNOCK-OUT STAGE IS UNDER WAY! We’ve compiled FOUR reasons to watch the tournament unfold at Cafe Football this summer, from limited edition menus to big giveaways.

The Menu

There’s nothing better than having a special menu for a special tournament – and these items are sure to go hand-in-hand with the occasion.

Diners can start with a homage to the hosts, with ‘Pirozhki’ beef and cheese-stuffed buns, served with garlic mayo and mixed leaf salad.

Move a little closer to home for the main course and try the ‘Great English Breakfast (in a bun)’, a true patriotic all-day treat which brings together a Cumberland sausage meat patty, grilled flat mushroom and tomato, fried egg, smoked applewood cheddar and baked beans, complete with a side portion of fat cut chips.

Finish strong with a break from the usual Cafe Football dessert offering, introducing the ‘Banana Kick’, with banana and mini jam ball skewers, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Larger groups of eight or more can ‘Tackle the Tower’ and enjoy an 8-pint Carlsberg beer tower with two team pizzas (choose from Margherita or Pepperoni) or take on the ‘Around the World in 90 minutes’ platter, with a culinary tour of fried Spanish tortillas, Cajun spiced potato waffles, chicken Kiev balls, vegetable Cornish pasties, Swedish meatballs and fish goujons.

The ATMOSPHERE

Cafe Football has fast become one of the go-to destinations for major fixtures, which is no surprise when football is present in name and nature. Cafe Football Old Trafford – situated on the ground floor of Hotel Football, is already popular with Manchester United fans, but will become a meeting hub for all football fanatics and residents throughout the tournament.

Cafe Football’s second Manchester site – on the ground floor of the National Football Museum – provides a city centre presence for supporters of all nations to come together under one roof to watch the beautiful game.

Cafe Football Stratford is the home of football in London, whatever your team or nationality.

Cafe Football Stratford is located on Chestnut Plaza, in the heart of Westfield Stratford City. The venue is a scenic 10-minute walk from the London Stadium, home of West Ham United and the 2012 Olympics.

Apart from it being an evident drinking spot for followers of the Irons, it also caters for a diverse range of football fans, from Serie A followers to Champions League contingents. Cafe Football Stratford doubles as a natural watering hole for all manners of sporting events, as well as a pre-gig/event destination for those visiting the London Stadium.

Each cafe boasts a multitude of plasma TV screens, so spectators will never be hard-up for a view of the action. The interiors have also been temporarily kitted out with retro apparel, supplied by Classic Football Shirts to fill guests with nostalgia and debate around past tournaments.

Tournament Bingo

If the menu and atmosphere wasn’t enough to entice followers down, the cafes will also be running a classic Cafe Football bingo game during non-England fixtures, where fans can win prizes whilst cheering on their teams. Players will need to look out for ‘on the pitch’ events to chalk off lines or even a full house to win prizes from free pints to meal for ten.

Certain events may include simple wins such as goals or a VAR decision, to other more unorthodox occurrences such as players being booked for diving, or the sighting of Russia’s mascot Zabivaka.

Bingo cards are available with the purchase of any food menu item and are available on non-England fixtures for the duration of the tournament.

Cafe Football Sticker Album

Everyone remembers tearing into their sticker packs as a child, hoping and praying for that Alan Shearer shiny, only to be let down by another Ian Walker swap.

Guests to Cafe Football can relive this nostalgia throughout the tournament, with the launch of its very own sticker album. Featuring illustrations from Manchester-born artists Stan Chow and Neil Roberts will be available to collect, with ‘World Cup wonders’, ‘EUROs heroes’ and even the National Football Museum’s trophy cabinet featuring.

The Sticker Albums will be available with the purchase of a kid’s meal at Cafe Football Old Trafford or Cafe Football National Football Museum, with more stickers available with the purchase of each subsequent kid’s meal purchase.
